JUDY REITH – Parent Coach, author, trainer and broadcaster, Apprentice Mum of 3 ( aged 19, 16, 11) When I became a mum in 1991, I thought being a parent would be the most natural job in the world. It was much tougher than I imagined. The hardest years were when my two children were about 3 and 5 – they were arguing with each other and with their parents. I read books and watched parenting programmes and talked with other mothers, but the real transformation came after attending a parenting course. I decided to train to run them myself to give as many parents as possible the opportunity to make their family life better, just as mine had been – not perfect, but ten times better. I have been working in parenting education since 1998 running courses in London and Cambridge having originally trained with Parent Network (now part of Parentline Plus) I am also an accredited Life Coach with Distinction from The Coaching Academy, to meet the demand for helping parents individually or as a couple. I now have three children and being a Mum remains the most challenging and rewarding part of my life, and I fully understand the pressures on us as parents. I love working with parents and seeing them flourish as they achieve their parenting goals. I follow a professional code of Ethics, How do I work? Most of my clients are parents who see me individually, in person or by phone for coaching sessions – usually in blocks of six sessions. About 30% of my ciients are working on life coaching (e.g. confidence, career, relationship issues) I completely understand the needs of working Mums – what I do is work non stop in term time, and less during school holidays. Courses and Workshops: I facilitate the following Parenting courses: Parenting Matters, Being A Parent, Sibling Rivalry, Living With Teenagers Workshops – usually one off – two hours on a range of parenting topics, such as Stop Juggling – Start Living, Credit Crunch Parenting or You’re A Star! – (boosting self esteem) I run these for private groups of parents, or in companies dedicated to supporting their working parents. I also speak to women’s groups about the nature of my work and how I run my business, Parenting People I am a Consultant for the Parenting Education and Support Forum. Radio I am a regular guest on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, and Suffolk, LBC London, and I have been interviewed by local and National print, radio and television journalists about parenting Writing Teach Yourself Motherhood (Hodders 2008) Teach Yourself Be A Great Mum ( Hodder 2010) I also write columns for magazines and newsletters Freebies I give a portion of my time each year to run workshops for charities working with parents, and I provide up to an hour a fortnight of free coaching time to parents who are on Income Support. My Passions I love working with parents watching them grow into confident happy parents. For me, it’s the best job in the world! Recently I helped set up the inaugaral Street Child World Cup in South Africa, enabling street children from 8 countries to have their own football tournament and to highlight the forgotten rights of street children – the most vulnerable community in the world Contact: Judy Reith (+ 44 )1223 328 307 m. 07798 602 385 Website; www.parentingpeople.co.uk E mail: judy@parentingpeople.co.uk Follow me on Twitter http://twitter.com/parentingpeople |

Alison is a married mum of 4 whose children are aged between 6 and 19. She currently works full-time as a childminder and runs Teeny Munchkins and the Cambridge edition of the Business Mums Journal Before becoming a childminder, she worked as an Assistant Manager at a Community Centre in Cambridge and networked with many members of the public and council workers. Alison worked there for around 12 years, starting life as a cleaner and creche worker. Being a part of Mums Club has given Alison the focus needed to push Teeny Munchkins (my main online business) further forward. There is lots of support and handy hints and tips both on the forum and the website itself. I hope that by setting up a networking group of mums in Cambridge, we can empower each other to share our skills and strive even further forward with our businesses. I am also very keen to get other mums into business and help them to recognise their own talents. |
